First, Set Your Goals

My goals are probably different from yours.

I have a family with two kids just entering middle school. One goes to school in Southwest Portland, and the other in West Linn. We’ll need to travel across different parts of town to get them. I also live on a 1/3 acre lot with ample room to store resources. Because of this, my goal is that our family can reunite quickly, and that we can safely and comfortably shelter in place for 2 months.

When I was in my 20’s I lived in an apartment, and my game plan was very different. I was in Seattle and didn’t have any major rivers to cross that I knew of. My goal was to leave the area as quickly as possible, so I only had 2 weeks of supply to hold me over until I could leave.

This blog will center around a very robust, shelter-in-place for 2 months plan. I don’t suggest this level of investment for people whose main strategy is to leave.

My hope is that even if your goal is to leave after 2 weeks, this blog will give you enough ideas and information to plan a strong 2-week strategy that keeps you safe, healthy, and happy until you leave.

And if you’re a 2-monther with a family and kids like me, let’s get there together.
